Artists' silk scarves to frame and hang: limited-edition prints on 18 momme silk twill, shown here framed. A 90 cm square, from $219, frames to about 100 cm (40 in). We sell the silk; frames aren't included.

## How to frame a silk scarf

-   **Stitch, don't stick.** Stitch the silk to an acid-free board covered in washed cotton, a few centimetres bigger than the scarf all round. No tape, glue or dry-mounting, so it can come out and be worn again.
-   **Keep the glazing off the silk.** UV-filtering acrylic, held at least 2 mm away by a spacer.
-   **Hang it out of the sun.** Less light slows fading far more than UV glazing does.
-   **Frames aren't included.** Any good framer can do it: ask for the silk to be stitched to a board, not glued.

## Questions

Do you sell framed scarves?

No. We sell the silk, ready for you or a framer to frame: frames aren't included. The photos here show each piece framed to give you ideas. [How to frame a silk scarf](https://thekansocollective.com/blog/how-to-frame-a-silk-scarf).

What size frame does a 90 cm silk scarf need?

About 100 cm (40 in) square. The silk is stitched to a board a few centimetres bigger than the scarf all round, about 96 to 100 cm, and the frame goes round the board. A 70 cm square needs about 76 to 80 cm.

How should a silk scarf be framed?

The way museums do it: stitched to an acid-free board covered in washed cotton, behind UV-filtering acrylic held at least 2 mm off the silk by a spacer, and hung out of direct sun. No tape, glue or dry-mounting, so the scarf can come out and be worn again.

Will a framed silk scarf fade?

Silk fades in light. UV-filtering glazing slows it only a little; less light does far more, so hang it away from windows and direct sun.

Which side do I show?

Either: the squares are printed on both sides.

Are these limited editions?

Yes. Every piece is unique and a limited edition, and nothing is ever mass produced: there is no run. Each piece is made to order, in collaboration with the artist, and finished by hand.

How long does delivery take?

Every piece is made to order and finished by hand, and dispatched in 2 to 3 weeks, then delivered 7 to 10 days later by tracked shipping (US $30, UK £24, Europe €28, UAE AED 110, elsewhere $35 per order). We ship worldwide.

Can I return it?
