About 100 cm (40 in) square. The silk is stitched to a board a few centimetres bigger than the scarf all round, about 96 to 100 cm, and the frame goes round the board. A 70 cm square needs about 76 to 80 cm.

The way museums do it: stitched to an acid-free board covered in washed cotton, behind UV-filtering acrylic held at least 2 mm off the silk by a spacer, and hung out of direct sun. No tape, glue or dry-mounting, so the scarf can come out and be worn again.

Silk fades in light. UV-filtering glazing slows it only a little; less light does far more, so hang it away from windows and direct sun.

Either: the squares are printed on both sides.
